I love the CS3 element logos... very clean, sophisticated, work well in print as lineart as well as with subtle shading on screen. Great "reason" behind the consistency, nice borrowing of classic, well known design (periodic chart). Looks great as an icon (since its square), works well as a favicon, makes the color representative of the product without even having to have the text... The new logo... well, it just looks amateurish.
